The weather last Saturday was perfect and in Norway that almost always calls for a hike or as they say ‘å gå på tur’ I went on my first hike adventure since moving up here and it was fun. Mostly because we got lost in the forest…here is a little story of how it went…Norwegians are very ‘out-doorsey’ – I have heard this many times before and after I moved and it is certainly no cliché. As a city girl… ‘my…

Spent my weekend on a group cabin trip to the mountains…Specifically Monsetertoppen in Hafjell… The nature up there was breathtaking. Freezing temperatures but beautiful snow capped views and a pleasant group made it all worth it… Did not attempt skiing or snow boarding though…I wasn’t reaaaaddyyyy (financially too, haha), went for short hikes with plans in my head for snowboarding the next time I go up there! Going on cabin trips to the mountains also known as ‘Hyttetur’ in norwegian is a…

Donut Heaven @Fryd

13/12/2016

Joined on a trip to Donut Heaven on Sunday with some heavy donut addicts to a pop-up donut store called Fryd (Oslo’s original donuts). The lines were long and the people in it scared the donuts will run out before their turn, and I was there curiously wondering as per usual… 562 donuts were sold off in an hour, there was also a limit to the amount of donuts each person could buy to ensure there was enough to go round… talk…

Been a loooong minute since I wrote here! Life got busy! In the midst of it all I made the final move, and settling in has been a mix of emotions. Oslo has been good to me so far… nothing compares to being where your heart is sooo … muchos grateful 🙂 So far we have had no snow in December and have been to a christmas market at the Norske Folkemuseum. If you have ever wondered what Norwegians lived like…

Norway signed its constitution into law which made it an independent kingdom from Sweden on May 17 1814…17Mai (May 17)  is known as Norwegian National Day and celebrated annually as a public holiday by Norwegians both home and abroad. We got to celebrate together at Southwark Park and not Oslo…special shout out to the UDI for making this day possible… haha…Anyways Hipp! Hipp! Hurra! Had my first Syttende Mai (May 17) experience!!! The day is marked with a lot of partying, champagne breakfasts, parades, cakes, ice…

Norwegian B1…Woop!

Hallo, Hei, now when I listen to someone speaking Norwegian my brain does not convert from English to Norsk (Norwegian) as much as it used too…I am getting good at this and it feels so good! About two weeks ago my tutor Inger Marie gave me some tests to check if  I was good to move from beginners to intermediate Norwegian and I passed them all…So exciting. So now I am on Intermediate Norwegian. New level, new challenges. As always the…

How to cope with waiting on UDI….

How To Cope With UDI Waiting Times

So we have been waiting for 9 months now for our Fiance Permit to be processed by the UDI(Norwegian Immigration)… Over the  months I noticed a lot of people are on the same boat with us and are really frustrated with the long long waiting time. The most annoying thing is you never get any real update from UDI, just same old ‘Your application is on the queue to be processed’ story for 9-18months! Incredible! We actually kept faith that it…

Sharing some pictures from my brief trip to Stavanger and it’s port! Getting ready to board from Oslo Lufthavn….Norwegian is the only airline I have flown that has wi-fi on board by the way.Our landing was a bit bumpy thanks to the wind but the coastal view was priceless and has stayed with me since.. What I loved the most about Stavanger were its small cobbled stoned streets and houses…it reminded me a lot of Edinburgh…another one of my favourite…
