Yep… that’s me! Signed sealed and delivered. February, July and August will never be the same again. Getting married was a lot of fun…Stressful with the planning but so much fun we did it three times…haha :p cause third times a charm right? We had the civil, traditional Nigerian and christian ceremony over those three months respectively.
For the civil ceremony like almost everyone else we had close family go with us to sign those papers and a cozy dinner afterwards…We also tied in our pre-wedding/engagement photos into the civil ceremony and had pictures taken before and during the ceremony. It made the day more magical.
The Nigerian ceremony…Now that was something! Being Nigerian a celebration for you is a celebration for your entire family and in Nigeria ‘family’ is not just your blood!. It was a big crowd and we employed the services of a wedding planner who did an excellent job.
We planned the christian ceremony all by ourselves…. with the help of Pinterest, Theknot.com‘s amazing ultimate wedding planner(highly recommend to brides to be) and many other useful online resources off course. We did employ the services of a decorator because the thought of setting up in the morning and heading back to change and get ready was not appealing. We were a total of 70 people in the end…Joy! Our ‘intimate family garden wedding’ wish came true…
Our days were beautiful. Not because of the detailed execution which i am not writing about today, but the atmosphere and energy we shared with everyone. I am sure some things did not go according to plan on these days….(bridesmaids forgot to pop the confetti for example! still not done forgiving them…hahaha). Looking back however what I loved the most about my wedding was that we were in the moment! I was under a spell of happiness on each of those days.
I was not concerned with any of the details of execution on that day, I did not let any mishap i noticed linger on in my mind…I went with it and have my amazing bridesmaids, family and friends to thank for keeping the energy magical!
So if i had one tip to give from my ‘planning a wedding’ adventure it is that! Just go with it! Details are good, having everything pretty is good (hire a decorator if you can), but most importantly be in the moment. It is your day! Do not worry if/when things do not go exactly the way you planned…
I planned and stressed about the details until a day before the wedding….The night before I finished my speech and disconnected from it all… On both occasions my bridesmaids, my friend Pops and sisters did excellent being a buffer throughout the day….
Looking back at the pictures now and I see my 32s in almost every shot (i ugly laugh) and I am well pleased with it…
Ok…thats what I wanted to say… If/when you get married… On your day, forget the details and your plans, go with it… Be in the moment! i think you being in the moment is all that matters… well for me it was… 🙂
Now going on with life enjoying the perks of being a ‘Sadie Sadie Married Lady’….hahahahaha…..x
